TRIP 04: SOUTH REMOTE AREA POTOSÍ AND SUCRE COLONIAL (11 Days)

Very important: All of this trip to the South Bolivian region included activities are almost entirely in 4x4 vehicle, this offering a comfortable enjoyment of the varied landscapes of this region.

POTOSÍ PATRIMONY OF THE HUMANITY. Declared “Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity” by UNESCO is one of the oldest  cities located at 4100m, in America. In colonial times it was the largest centre of Silver production in the world.   

SUCRE. Colonial monumental city of America located in a valley at 2.750 m. Is one the oldest cities in America, founded by Spaniards in 1538, it was the mayor judicial centre of the Real Audiencia de Charca. The preserves magnificent colonial buildings of the 16th and 17th centuries, including the material. Recoleta  church and museum, and the University of San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca which is the second oldest University in America.        

 

SCHEDULE:

DAY 01: Departure from Las Paz to Oruro by bus and then by Train “Expreso del Sur” from Oruro to Uyuni, or by night bus La Paz-Uyuni,  journey across Bolivia is high – plateau arrival to the village of Uyuni (3.660 Mts.) at 22.30 p.m. overnight in hotel.

DAY 02: Departure from Uyuni 10:00 a.m. by exclusive vehicle transport: cross the salty flat of Uyuni stopping to visit in Colchane a quick visit to the salt work process, then  entry to salar can you enjoy the salt works and  views of the salt hotels, drive to   the island of Pescado, which has a unique variety of flora and fauna (giant cacti, small birds viscachas, etc.) then continuing on to the village of San Juan (3.800 Mts), needed   approximately 7 hours, overnight Lodge

DAY 03: Early morning departures and drive across the salty lagoons of Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarkhota, Honda and Ramaditas all populated by flamingos; then on to the Siloli desert, and arriving to the Colorada lagoon (4.200 Mts), where let a afternoon are among the most unique on earth, overnight refuge.

DAY 04: Early in the morning excursion to the Sol de Mañana geysers (4.800 Mts); then continue journey to the Verde Lagoon (4.400 Mts), afternoon; excursion in the instep to Licancabur and Juriquis, Volcanos. overnight camping.

DAY 05: Early in the morning visit to the Central Geotermic electricity Project then return journey to Colorada Lagoon and Green lagoon back to Villa Mar Village, overnight refuge.

DAY 06: Long drive return journey from Villa Mar to the town of Uyuni – Potosí through  wonderful landscapes  such as oasis and impressive  canyons  to arrive Potosí  approximately 12 hours by jeep, 18:00 p.m. arrival at Potosí city 4100m, overnight in hotel.

 

CULTURAL POTOSÍ

DAY 07: Culture tour of Potosí

MORNING:  09:00 am.  – 11:30 a.m. Visit the Paillaviri silver nine.

AFTERNOON: 14:00 p.m. –17:30 p.m. visit the museum “La casa de la moneda”,  hotel.

 

CULTURAL SUCRE

DAY 08: Early in the morning continue the journey from Potosí through wonderful landscapes to arrive in Sucre: Afternoon City tour, overnight hotel.

DAY¨09: (Only Sunday). Early in the morning trip to the Indian Market of the village of Tarabuco, Afternoon return to Sucre, overnight hotel.


DAY 10: Transfer T–OUT to the Sucre airport return to La Paz City and Transfer T–In to your hotel. End of our services.

DURATION: 11 DAYS – 10 NIGHTS

-Hotel in Uyuni, Potosí and La Pazrefuge in San Juan, Laguna Colorada,   train tickets Expreso del Sur, exclusive vehicle transport during all expedition. guide driver, cook and a assistant cook, full board pension during the expedition (breakfast, lunch and dinner), full camping organized, two person tent,full kitchen equipmen, general assistance.

NOT INCLUDED

- Individual personal equipment, restaurant services in the cities, extra expenses outside mentioned, tips and etc..

 

VERY IMPORTANT

All member of the expedition must have the following complete personal equipment

- Light rucksack, sleeping bag able to withstand temperatures to – 20 oC for auto trips on the high plateau, and light sleeping bah for the tropical zone, Respective mats and insulated pad, cold protective jacket and sweaters, cold protective globes, rain protective globes for tropical sites, good leather shoes, good trekking boots for the OOT 04  – PLAN OOT – 05, wool socks for high lands
