TRIP 02: SAJAMA NATIONAL PARK (21 Days) 

(MORE INFORMATION DSE 11) – SOUTH BOLIVIA and  COLONIAL POTOSI

The program of this plan is a combination of TRIP 01 together its different plans and TRIP 02, and covers a complete journey through the Bolivian Altiplano, beginning in the north with La Paz, following the Central at Sajama National Park in Oruro also the Salt Flat of Coipasa and Uyuni (3.800 Mts), and in the south Bolivia Atacama Regions drive to  Green lagoon,  and a visit to the Colonial city of Potosí cultural patrimony of humanity:

SCHEDULE:

DAY 01:  Arrival to El Alto international airport (4000m), transfer In to hotel La Paz city  3600m.

DAY 02: City tour La Paz, and visit valley of the Moon, overnight hotel

DAY 03: La Paz –Coroico.

DAY 04: Coroico-La Paz. 

DAY 05: Departure from La Paz by vehicle transport to the Sajama National Park; journey through Bolivia is high plateau (4.000 Mts.) arrival to the small village Sajama overnight camping/ or Lodge, needed  approximately 8 hours trip.

DAY 06: Exploration  day in the wonderful Sajama National Park, five hours hike up  small lagoons over 5000m, live here in harmony  aquatic ducks, viscachas and vicuñas  after go down  hot springs water to relaxing  overnight camping or Lodge.

 

DAY 07: Journey across the central altiplano (4.000 Mts. above sea level), arrive To the salt flat of Coipasa  (3.800 Mts.),overnight camping.

DAY 08: Long trip and crossing of the Coipasa salt flat to arrive at the great Uyuni Salt flat (3.660 Mts.) 10.000 km. sq., with a depth of 130 meters, camping on Pescado Island.

 

SOUTH BOLIVIAN REGION:

DAY 09: Exploring great Uyuni Salt flat, Continue trip on the village of San Juan (3.800 Mts.), overnight Lodge

DAY 10: Journey across the beautiful landscapes and colour visit Salty lagoons of: Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarkhota, Honda and Ramaditas, then to the Siloli desert; arrival to the Colorada lagoon (4.200 Mts. above sea level), overnight  lodge.

DAY 11: Excursion to the “Sol de la Mañana Geysers” (4.800 Mts.) here is the proyect of geothermal energy exploration and four wells are ready.  To 10 km ahead is hot spring water to take a good relaxation bath, then less than an hour’s drive to get arrival to green lagoon (4.600 Mts.) Is the most colourful region surrounded by high mountains volcanoes is the border with Chile. After enjoying four hours drive we return to Villa Mar Village overnight hostelling. 

DAY 12 / 13: Return journey to Uyuni drive five hours arrive to Uyuni (3.660 Mts.), small city overnight  hotel.

 

CULTURAL POTOSÍ (4.100 MTS.)

DAY 14: Journey 220 km  drive to the Colonial city of Potosí, afternoon City tour,   overnight hotel.

DAY 15: MORNING: Visit the Paillaviri mine.

             AFTERNOON: Visit the museum La Casa de la Moneda. Overnight hotel

DAY 16: Long  trip  500km drive return to La Paz, arrival at your hotel and end our services.

DAY 17: Tiawanaku. Half day tour cultural, drive to Huatajata and Copacabana, overnight Hotel.  

DAY 18: Copacabana-Sun Island. Half day visit Copacabana, AFTERNOON drive for two ours by motor  Boats, arrive to Yumani South part of the Island, overnight hostelling.        

DAY 19: Half day visit Sun Island, by motor boats back to Copacabana and back to La Paz, Overnight hotel.  

DAY 20: La Paz free day hotel.             

DAY 21: Transfer Out.

 



 

ORGANISED AUTO TRIPS BY 4X4 WD COSTS INCLUDED:

- Hotel, exclusive vehicle transport during all expedition. guide driver, cook and a assistant cook, full board pension during the expedition (breakfast, lunch and dinner), full camping organized, two person tent,full kitchen equipmen, general assistance.

-   Individual personal equipment, restaurant services in the cities, extra expenses outside mentioned, tips and etc..

 

VERY IMPORTANT

All member of the expedition must have the following complete personal equipment

-   Light rucksack, sleeping bag able to withstand temperatures to – 20 oC for auto trips on the high plateau, and light sleeping bah for the tropical zone, Respective mats and insulated pad, cold protective jacket and sweaters, cold protective globes, rain protective globes for tropical sites, good leather shoes, good trekking boots for the OOT 04  – PLAN OOT – 05, wool socks for high lands
