CLIMBING:
CHUPI ORKO (6.044 Mts), KATANTICA (5.592 Mts), HUANACUNI (5.796 Mts), COLOLO (5.916 MTS), and ACAMANI (5.700 Mts).

The Apolobamba region of Bolivia, located at 350 km. on the North West of La Paz and beyond the Cordillera Real, just across the frontier from Perú.
Apolobamba Range has got an extension, long 70 km. and wide 40 km. approximately lies on the edge of the altiplano or high plain in which Titicaca lies, while the north east side of the range drops off rather steeply to the Amazon Basin.
There are virtually no maps of this region and that only a few British expeditions had explored the area and another UK expedition climbed in the southern group peaks near to the Ossipal Pass that the Andes Expeditions transported to them.
Apolobamba range is divided in four massifs from Northwest to Southwest, the highest summit in the major group is more than 5.500 Mts, in altitude. Starting from Chupi Orko (6.044 Mts. above sea level), Katantica (5.592 Mts), both of them contains 91 peaks, Huanacuni  (5.796 Mts), Cololo (5.916 Mts), which have 51 peaks and the last, massif Akamani (5.700 Mts), with 35 peaks. Total 177 peaks all Apolobamba Range. Where you find many peaks which have not climbed yet. They are virgins or due to it does not know, only 1.5% of climbers who arrive to Bolivia take Apolobamba as a climb destine.

PROGRAM:

 There are four alternatives for climbing in Apolobamba Range and each one of them has duration of 20 days approximately, in this period includes the acclimatisation with small tours such as Lake Titicaca, Copacabana, Mountains climbing, etc. These programs could be changed according to the passenger’s requirements.


OPTIONS TO ORGANIZE EXPEDITIONS:

1 DAY.- Climbing in Chupi Orko (6.044 Mts. above sea level) is very far from Pelechuco village.

2 DAY.- Climbing in Katantica  (5.592 Mts. above sea level) is nearing way from  Pelechuco village.

3 DAY.- Climbing in Huanacuni (5.796 Mts. above sea level) is nearing way Ulla Ulla by lake nube or way Pelechuco village.

4 DAY.- Climbing in Akamani (5.700 Mts. above sea level) is nearing way Ulla Ulla by Ossipal Pass.

SEASON: April – November

ORGANISED  CLIMBING  TOURS  COST  INCLUDED:

- Exclusive transport 4X4 Toyota round trip,specialised Mountains Guide,collective technical equipment two person, tent,Cook and an assistant person, there Meals during the day (Full board pension)Full kitchen, equipment. Cook and assistant,pack animals, mules maximum load capacity per animal 40 kg, high Altitude porters, support logistical material, radio communications.

NOT INCLUDED

- Personal equipment and climbing material, extra expenses out mentioned, tip, etc.

VERY IMPORTANT

We strongly advice you to be fully equipped before you start any expedition. Members of the high mountain expedition must have the following complete personal climbing equipment:

- Rucksack  70 Lt. ,climbing plastic boots, crampons, ice axe  / ice pick, harness, a pair of waterproof gaiters, a pair of prusicks, sleeping bag able to withstand temperature – 20oC , respective mat and insulated pad, rain and down feather jacket / gorotex, wind jacket, snow sticks, good snows pants, good cold protective gloves and scarves, good cold protective socks, sun and snow glasses with side protection, sun and cold protective caps, sun and cold protective creams, head lamp with new batteries, personal first aid kit, individual water bottles, a small notebook.
