MT.  JANKHOUMA (6.490 Mts. above sea level)

TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY: FOR CLIMBERS WITH CONSIDERABLE EXPERIENCE
Located at the north of the Real Range of La Paz, the name of this mountains comes from Aymara terms “Jankho” and “Uma” which means “Crystalline water”. Its summit was conquered for the first time in 1.919 by the German expeditions headed by Rud Dienst and Adolf Schulze.

SCHEDULE:

 

DAY 01: Departure from La Paz and trip by exclusive vehicle transport to Sorata (2.700 Mts. above sea level) . AFTERNOON: Visit the San Pedro caves. Night hotel.

 

DAY 02: Long hiking day, to approach to the intermediate camp at 4.600 Mts. with assistance of pack animals for about 7-8 hours. Night camping.

 

DAY 03: To approach to the base camp (5.100 Mts. above sea level) with assistance of high altitude porters for half-day. Night camping.

 

DAY 04: Rest day at base camp. Inspection of the route. Night camping.

 

DAY 05: Ascent to the high camp (5.600 Mts. above sea level). Night camping.

 

DAY 06: Climb to the summit of Mt. Jancohuma (6.490 Mts. above sea level), back to the base camp (total activity more than 12 hours).

Night camping.

 

DAY 07: Descent to the base camp or rest day at the base camp. Night camping.

 

DAY 08: Back and descend to the nice village of Sorata, total activity full day. Night camping.

 

DAY 09: Return journey to La Paz with private transport for fours hours, arrival to your hotel and end of our services.

VERY IMPORTANT

We strongly advice you to be fully equipped before you start any expedition. Members of the high mountain expedition must have the following complete personal climbing equipment:

- Rucksack  70 Lt. ,climbing plastic boots, crampons, ice axe  / ice pick, harness, a pair of waterproof gaiters, a pair of prusicks, sleeping bag able to withstand temperature – 20oC , respective mat and insulated pad, rain and down feather jacket / gorotex, wind jacket, snow sticks, good snows pants, good cold protective gloves and scarves, good cold protective socks, sun and snow glasses with side protection, sun and cold protective caps, sun and cold protective creams, head lamp with new batteries, personal first aid kit, individual water bottles, a small notebook.
